All Temple University graduate programs require a completed application form, a statement of goals, and one certified copy of official transcripts from every college and university attended, including Temple University. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is ordinarily required for admissions consideration. However, requirements for some programs may vary.
Please note that applications typically are not reviewed until they are complete, which requires receipt of all required credentials and payment of the application fee. Applications may be submitted to more than one program, but no student may pursue two degrees simultaneously, except for those admitted to university-approved dual degree programs.

If required by your degree program of choice, take a standardized test of scholastic aptitude, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (general and/or subject) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). No photocopies of score reports for any standardized test will be accepted. Scores must be reported by the testing service within five years of your test date. Submission of scores should follow the requirements below.

If you are a U.S. applicant, with documentation from your program director, you are eligible to have the application fee waived for a Temple-hosted application if you participate in one of the following programs.

Most programs require some or all of the following materials.
Write a statement of goals. It is typically 500 to 1,000 words and should focus on past academic achievements, as well as what you hope to accomplish during your time at Temple University. Be sure to confirm specific requirements for your degree program in the Graduate Bulletin.
Request one certified copy of official transcripts from every college and university you have attended, even if only one course was taken. International degrees must be assessed for equivalency with a U.S. degree based on the characteristics of the national educational system, the type of institution attended and the level of studies completed. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is ordinarily required for admissions consideration. If unofficial transcripts are submitted during the application process, submission of official academic records will be required by the end of your first term of graduate study if you are admitted and subsequently enroll at Temple University.
Submit scores for a standardized test of scholastic aptitude, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (general and/or subject) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), as described above.
Submit letters of reference, either on our Reference Report for Graduate Study (pdf) or as a traditional letter of recommendation. Be sure to review the instructions for submitting letters of recommendation, which can be found in your anticipated degree program’s Graduate Bulletin.
Submit your professional résumé.
Submit portfolios or exhibits that demonstrate creative potential and ability in such fields as fibers and materials studies, film and media arts, music performance and painting. Review portfolio requirements and submission instructions in your anticipated degree program’s Graduate Bulletin.
Prepare to audition for disciplines such as acting, dance and music performance. You will work with the program’s office to schedule your audition.
Prepare for an in-person or Skype interview, if required by your program. If needed, the program will contact you to schedule one.
